Was it because they were driving away paying customers, i.e. actual customers were saying "I'm not participating/leaving because you allow X," or because of laws in various countries that LL wanted SL to be available in?

Melissa, I think the answer is both. For instance the gambling ban.. I don't think anyone really cared weather or not SL had gambling places in it... except for the FBI and US laws which govern what Linden Labs can do on US soil... now as far as the pedophilia.. thats against the laws of mostif not all countries that have access to SL and really I think most would agree that it could scare away potential customers.
