Going through my old archive of posts tonight, I came across this: at left, the view from my first office in Waterhead, circa October 2003. At right, the view from my office today. The original office is gone, many neighbors have moved, what used to be the literal edge of the world has been connected to another outcropping of land and sea. Not to mention an entire new sky. (Click for fuller view.)
The anchorpoint? You can see it off-center in each photo: Club Sinatra, one of Second Life's first jazz clubs. Five years later, more or less unchanged.
Geo thinks Hamlet is suffering from a bit of good, old fashioned cyber nostalgia... ;-)

I recently went back to my old home sims to see the changes and the one which has changed the most is Topgol, which is where I bought land back in 2006 about a month after rezzing. I still had the old landmark to the parcel and now it's inhabited by a small two story house. The entire sim is now a city and I keep seeing people reference it. When I bought it, there was an ugly strip club, gambling nearby, and one of the first clubs I'd ever seen.
