Peak concurrency was just a bit over 71,000 a couple weeks ago, and today the apex passed 73,000. With a consistent rise of 500 per week, on average, and barring anything to interrupt this trend, 2008 should close out at around 78,000 concurrency. This is impressive growth, of course, but from what we know, this mostly means existing SL users are growing more active. The other important figure to keep an eye on is "Residents Logged-In During Last 30 Days", on Linden's Stats page. Subtracting new sign-ups, October saw 507,288 recurring active monthly Second Life users, a continuation of a year-long plateau in SL's meaningful population.
