If you're planning to be in Florence during the next few months (and really, who wouldn't want that?), there's a "Virtual Renaissance" exhibit which just opened in the Museum of Natural History at the University of Florence. It's the brainchild of Italian journalist Mario Gerosa (Frank Koolhaas in-world), featuring screenshots by SL artists like Gazira Babeli, Frieda Korda, Ashanti Leshelle, and Marco Manray. "There is also a 320 page catalog in English and Italian and two CD with the music produced for the exhibit," Mario tells me, not to mention a cast of actors dressed up as avatars, offering themselves as virtual world guides. More details at his blog. When you're in Florence, you might also want to stop by and see the original Renaissance avatar-- you know, Michelangelo's David.
