Here's a great gift-giving idea: Second Life blogger and podcaster Crap Mariner is collecting URL links to iTunes download pages for Second Life musicians, which he'll then embed in a wall of album covers in his clocktower. (And if I can nudge him, on his blog as well.) Voila, a one-stop shopping area for buying SL musician tracks with those iTunes gift cards that are so common this season. If you're a metaverse performer with songs to sell, go here for the details.

Good idea! It is a pain to search the web or SL on where to get the downloads of a musician. But I only buy from iTunes Plus Store, because there is no point in buying DRM-crippled media when you can't really use it. Musicians, please use DRM-free services!

Nudge nudge nudge... OKAY! I may set up riaa.isfullofcrap.com for the catalog.

This sounds like something you could contact eMusic about. They seem to love that niche market stuff and their entirely drm free. I wish I knew someone there to contact. Anyone?

I never buy anything on iTunes because it's got DRM. I'd encourage them to try amiestreet or CDBaby or Magnatune instead. Even Amazon is DRM free now.
Still, it's a very nice gesture and idea.

As a follow up, the 'Tunes in SL' project now links to iTunes and Amazon's sites and is accessible from the website mentioned by Crap above or in-world. There's also a flickr group dedicated to the project.
