As featured in this week's Lanna's List, master fantasist Terry Pratchett appeared in-world yesterday to promote his latest novel. Your2ndPlace has a nicely edited transcript from the event, in which Pratchett appears as an avatar called "TerryPratchett Morpork". A sample:
Dedric Mauiac: What are you views on people in Second Life creating people, places, and things from your books and either giving or selling them to other players?
TerryPratchett Morpork: It would be interesting to see what the law could do about Second Life! Regrettably for you, copyright and trademarks exist everywhere, but in reality I see this sort of thing as fan activity.
It was an impressive interview. Their is even a flickr group that many of us were posting pictures to during the event.

I cannot believe I've managed to completely miss this. I'll never forgive myself. And Terry at some point even said he's not considering to come back to SL again ("too bad graphics" compared to his favourite computer game).
The irony! I'm his #1 fan in my country ;) ... actually, "fan" doesn't even begin to describe it... and I've missed what would be the hugest event in SL. Probably the only one worth attending in a lifetime.
*sighs*
*dies silently under a pile of Discworld novels*
