If
you are fascinated by works of art inspired by religion and religious
icons then you will enjoy visiting the exhibition that highlights
Raphael's divine works. He was known by his first name and was an
Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance. Together with
Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, he forms the traditional trinity of
great masters of that period. In Lill Burn Valley (click here to teleport).

5 PM - SL Hockey Association Open Scrimmage
Moggs asked her friends on Plurk what the best events they'd attended in
Second Life were and one person shared that the best time she'd had was
at SL Hockey. She couldn't believe how well it was done an how
realistic it was. While this isn't one of the big matches, it
will give you the opportunity to see Second Life Hockey in action. At
Jericho Hill Rink (click here to teleport).

9 PM - Bootie Bootleg Par-tay
Bootie
is a bi-monthly mash up bootleg party. It's about the underground. It
represents all the things you don't want to admit to liking, but are
strangely drawn to. The music, the culture, the identity are all drawn
together in one place and that place is Bootie. I have it on very good
authority that it's lots of fun. This weekend there will be a webcast

It provides a visually immersive environment for social interaction,
media consumption and game play. Come hear CEO Sibley Verbeck talk
about the fortunes of ESC after Second Life, and the future of
Webflock, which will host the new virtual presence of the Showtime
series The L Word in January, 2009. Most Metanomics events are recorded in Muse Isle amphitheater, (click here to teleport to Muse Isle).
The Muse Isle venue fills up very quickly so it is also simulcast to
event partner locations throughout Second Life, please visit the Metanomics website for partner SLurls.

2PM - The Effects of Instructor Immediacy in 3D teaching
Inspired
by this year's conference in WoW and an appreciation for Second Life
discussion groups, some researchers decided to start a weekly seminar
meeting in Second Life. This week the seminar will be presented by
Sabine Reljic and Willow Shenlin. So far four meetings have been held,
with the fifth and sixth planned. The format is an informal one-hour
meeting, once a week, for VW researchers to discuss problems, methods
and results. While the meeting takes place in Second Life, any
VW-related topic is suitable. Each week a presenter speaks about their
work for part of the hour, then opens the floor to audience discussion.
The presenter chooses how long they want to speak for, and the day,
time and place of the talk (though lately we seem to have settled on
Tuesdays at 2pm SL time). (click here to teleport).
3:30 PM - Thinkers: iBRAIN
The
brain is famous for its plasticity, able to change in response to
stimuli from the environment. How, then, is all the digital technology
we live with affecting our brains? Come and discuss with Extropia. All
welcome. In SupportforHealing (click here to teleport).
6 PM - Joaquin Gustav Bubblefish
Put
your dancing shoes on... find a rose to clamp in your teeth and prepare
to tango as Joaquin Gustav entertains you from the Bubblefish stage.
His special skill? Latin Guitar. At Tentacle (click here to teleport).
7 PM - Arthurian Legends with Derry McMahon
The
stories of Camelot appeal to all ages. This is possibly because the
story of Camelot has it all. It has heroes, villans, love, betrayal,
magic and wonder. Stories, poetry and art inspired by King Arthur,
Lancelot, Guinevere, Merlin, Mordred and others are still inspiring
authors today. If you are enthralled by the tales of the Round Table
head down and join Derry McMahon for an hour of story
telling. In West of Ireland (click here to teleport).
8 PM - Socrates Cafe
Do you
love philosophy and discussing it with others? The Socrates Cafe is a
name given to groups that get together for philosophical discussion.

All hours - Viva La Vida! A tribute to life
This
is a performance followed in sequence. It is important to start at the
begining and follow the clues to find the path. You need not visit at a
specific time but you do need to engage your virtual senses. Look...
listen... touch - be bold... explore and enjoy. I love these
interactive art/performance pieces and I hope you enjoy it too. This is
yet another amazing example of the skill and talent that can be found
in Second Life. In Rezzable (click here to teleport).

This week's list was compiled and co-written by Moggs Oceanlane.
Submitting events for coverage in New World Notes
Every Thursday, NWN highlights events for the upcoming weekend into next Wednesday. Please see the guidelines below for details on submitting events.
Guidelines:
- Events for the coming week must be received by Tuesday Noon SLT.
- Include all the relevant info &em; day, time, and especially the SLURL to the event location.
- Please send related graphics such as screenshots or photo of the event site, if available.
- Events with artistic, cultural, scientific, political, creative, and/or educational value preferred.
- Events sponsored or promoted by real world corporations are welcome, as long they serve and entertain the Second Life community, and/or foster Resident-made content (live music, builds, scripting, fashion, games, etc.) Events that merely promote the company or organization's Second Life presence are not generally appropriate; you may instead consider advertising your event or service on New World Notes.
- Mature-rated events are permissible, but listing descriptions should be PG-13. Political and religious events are encouraged, though those of an extreme or non-inclusive variety are rarely included.
- Bonus consideration given to game-related or machinima events, and for events with "I've never seen that in SL before!" value.
If you'd like an event to be considered, send the description and event information via email to Charlanna Beresford or Moggs Oceanlane. (Moggs is collaborating with me on the list and help compile and write this week's list). Or contact us in-world via IM or drop a folder or notecard in our inventories that contains your event information and images.
Email [email protected] or invite us to an event using this email address via Google Calendar. We are on Facebook as Charlanna Beresford and Moggs Oceanlane.
