Linden Lab programmer Jim Pubrick has had a steampunk avatar named Babbage Linden for years, so when the company announced this year's Christmas Party would have a steampunk theme, he took it as an opportunity to come as Babbage. Being an ubegeek, Jim didn't just create a best-guess facsimile of his Victorian avatar with a brass robot arm-- no, he exported the data from OGLE, then into Blender, and then Pepakura Designer, which he then used to print out a guide to make a scale facsimile in cardboard. (End result above.) Since he goes into so much detail, it's also a nice starter guide for exporting your own avatar shapes into the real world. Read about it all here.
