The cat people avatars called Nekos are quite possibly the largest non-human avatar subculture in Second Life, but because their feline qualities tend to be more subtle than, say, Residents in a full furry regalia, I think their popularity is less generally recognized. (When have you ever heard a non-SLer say, "Second Life is full of Nekos"?) I'd also speculate Nekos tend to be more integrated into the human avatar population, than furries. In any case, what does it take to become a Neko? Stacia Villota has posted a full guide on her blog, everything from skins to eyes (as here) to essential Neko fashion style (an "area in which many Nekos differ in opinion", Ms. Villota notes.)

That's cute, and should make for good reading.
Thanks, Hamlet!
