New World Tableau: How Cala Created "Contemplation"

These two images from Koinup member Trixibelle (Cala Rossini in SL) are possibly not safe for work viewing in full, but very much worth a side-by-side comparison.  Cala began with this drab nude avatar photo, and after much artistry, created this warm, sun-dappled image, which she calls "Contemplation".  To give it deep shadows, she layered three increasingly darker copies of the avatar, then removed the darkness in areas she wanted lit up.  And that's only for starters.  She explains the rest in the Comment thread here.
