Last year I mentioned how NWN partner Rezzablen (a sponsor to this blog) was experimenting with paywalls to some of their popular areas. In one prominent case, at least, that experiment is over: CEO RightasRain Rimbaud announced this week that access to their Greenies' playspace was reverting back to free, open access. "We studied the paid access," Rimbaud reports on the company blog, "and felt that the revenue we made was not worth the reduction of visitors to this particular area... basically we are still trying to find ways to make a little money on the Second Life grid and not take out our frustrations on Linden Lab on the SL users." So here's the direct SLURL link to Greenies' giant play space, once again free-- and now featuring skeletal remains by master SL builder Madcow Cosmos.

I was against the move to charge so I'm glad they've reverted back to being free. However it's a shame that pay to enter isn't a more widespread model because it would encourage more social venues.
Places like Seven Ultra Lounge charge entry but it works there to a degree because it's a smaller venue and they have a VIP section too I believe.
