Last weekend fashionista Gorgeous Yongho pointed out an interesting milestone in Plurk: the Second Life group fashion blog iheartsl.com was now well within the top 10,000 blogs on Technorati, the leading blog content aggregator. (Rank number 7,877 among tens of millions of blogs, to be exact.) This is impressive in itself, and even moreso, when you consider a broader point: this makes a blog about virtual world fashion more popular than many popular real world fashion blogs. For example, the Los Angeles Times fashion blog All The Rage, which now ranks at a comporably pathetic Technorati rank of 16,577. Even though the LA Times blog reports knowledgably about the fashions of Hollywood celebrities, somehow a blog devoted to avatar couture has more influence in the blogosphere. Another case of SL culture dominating Web 2.0.

Second Life is even infecting Google results. Getting hard to go anywhere without tripping over something from Second Life.
Gratz to iheartsl. The power of the feeds is with them.

Grats! But...
Unfortunately Technorati is no longer the last word of blog ratings. For an update on comparing blog rating services, check out http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/identify_top_blogs_redux.php

It's not the sole resource, Shava, but for a ranking system it's still one of the best if only by default, if not the best. Most of the others Marshall reviews in that Read Write post are just recommendation networks.

I think I would rather see real models modeling real fashions. Not into the virtual reality stuff
