My enterprising colleagues at NWN partner Rezzable just launched a Virtual Worlds Directory, a user-run/user-rated guide to interesting and worthwhile Second Life locations (though ultimately it will include other worlds.) Users can add Flickr screenshots to each listing, along with star ratings and commentary. (Think Yelp, but for the metaverse.) Orhalla Zander has started it off with 100+ listings, and because the Hobo King is a master explorer of SL, you have to think it's teeming with great suggestions. (At right, Orhalla's entry for The Wastelands.) My obvious personal bias aside, I think this can become a great resource for users-- even better than the Lindens' official Showcase directory. For one thing, Rezzable's version is much more user-driven. In fact, they're looking for more volunteer contributors-- here's how to submit to the directory.

To be better than the in world showcase will take more than what they put up. It's not the content. It is the presentation. Looks like an Access database report. I think it needs to go web and maybe a bit of help from joomla or something.

What Ann said. The information might be good but the presentation is not.

As a note, the home directory page has been updated a bit, and a HUD has now been released.
