Well that was fast: days after saying that the massive SS Galaxy cruise ship would need to go out of business, the owner has just announced that an unnamed "benefactor" would financially subsidize its property costs, allowing it to stay in business with little changes to its current operation. The ship's insolvency news seemed like an emblematic sign of real world economic turmoil, but word that someone from the community has stepped in to save it also seems symbolic, too. I had to do this with my island. I could no longer keep up with the rising tier costs do to my real life economic situation. The tier is no paid with donations to the island by its visitors without witch the island would just dissappear. I wonder how many other places have had to look for outside funding to keep their islands in todays economic climate?

I had to move my shop to a small parcel on the mainland. I ended up renting out most of the sim to help pay for the tier.

This is great news. I only discovered the SS Galaxy when everyone started talking about its demise. Now that I'm aware of it I'm glad I'll be able to return. Wonder if we'll ever find out who stepped up to help.
