Last week I asked readers what kind of live music was sorely lacking in Second Life, but inexplicably, no one suggested "Classic 70s rock performed in Japanese by a dude dressed up as a playing card". (Seriously, WTF's up with that lacuna?)
Fortunately, that niche has already been filled by Ousama Ashiyu, a popular Japanese musician who occasionally streams mixed reality performances in Second Life. Even if you missed his SL show mentioned in Chestnut's Choices last week, you definitely need to watch the video above, it is glorious, like a live action Katamari Damacy gone metal. (Here's a report on the show from Japan's Second Times. As there, he's sometimes referred to as "Osama", which actually means "king" in Japanese, and has no relation whatsoever to that other one.)
Resident Nehan1999 Blackburn maintains the star's Second Life blog, and his site in-world, designed to look like an onsen, or spa. [Direct SLurl teleport at this link] "Japanese love chatting in the onsen or foot onsen even virtually," my Japanese translator/correspondent Sanny Yoshikawa explains. Though a small squirrel, Ms. Yoshikawa continues unearthing great finds from the Japanese community. She tells me Ousama will perform again in SL next year, though if we're lucky, perhaps sooner.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Well I must say that "Classic 70s rock performed in Japanese by a dude dressed up as a playing card" is king of the "Other" category.
