Working with a large team and a painstaking methodology, Second Effects has just published the latest iteration in their top ranking Second Life blogs list, as designated by Technorati. (At left, the top ten on that rubric.) After manually checking nearly 5000 possible sites, they found 1202 currently active Second Life blogs. ("Active" defined here as a blog with at least one post over the last three months.) That's an incredible number, even if what they consider a "Second Life blog" seems bit too liberal. (I suspect Raph Koster would be very surprised to learn he's an SL blogger.) For comparison's sake, I'd love to know how many World of Warcraft blogs are out there online; initial research suggests not half as much. Want to increase your own SL blog's ranking? Go here for my advice on doing just that.

Thanks for the info. I would never be able to keep up with 1200 blogs though. I have enough trouble keeping up with the ones I have now.

OK well if you are ever bored then you know where to go catch up on SLurrent Activities.
Had I the cash and know how I would so roll all of those into a single feed rofl. And attach it to a catalog system for Second Life that captures all the blog posts and attaches to their respective locations forever.
I would call it...

Hey, man,
/me is sad to see me own bloggie unmentioned, not to mention unranked :)
However, that oversight doesn't keep me from mentioning that (not that you need the publicity) your cornerstone blog has been nominated for Blog-o-the-Month at ISTE Island's Blogger's Hut in Second Life. The other contenders are listed at the Hut and voting is sometimes fierce (but, one hopes, also friendly) so get you and your alts over there quick like a virtual bunny and vote. Cheers from the Education community hinterlands!

If I read ArminasX correctly, those rankings aren't likely to increase any time soon. It sounded to me as if he's not planning to revise the list again. And, considering the amount of work he went through to make this thing -- 3 times! -- I can't blame him.
It's good to know that I have a pretty high ranking for my own blog, but I don't want to make a fellow avatar suffer constantly revising his figures just for my own ego-boo (grin).

Interestingly, only 2 of the top 10 focus on fashion and one of those is about discounted fashion. Lots more fashion blogs in the top 20, but I wonder how many fashion blogs would have been in the top 10 a year or two ago. Maybe half?
