Chestnut Rau’s weekly round-up of upcoming SL events…
SL Earth Week builds on the world-wide celebration of Earth Day. The SL Festival begins on April 18th and runs through April 26th. The party moves across the grid visiting many incredibly beautiful sims and includes opportunities to learn, play and explore. There will be a live music extravaganza at Freestar Bay Isle which features 10 performers from around the world. You can tour African mangroves, soar through a hurricane on the wing of a research aircraft courtesy of the US National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration. You can complete the challenging Green Ideation Quest by the University of Innesbruck or attend a native American Pow Wow. The diversity of events is incredible.

Thursday April 16
6PM - Virtually Speaking with Jimbo Hoyer Interviews Olivier Knox
Virtually Speaking with Jimbo Hoyer is a regular public affairs program featuring in-depth conversations with opinion leaders, conducted in front of a live SL audience. This week's guest is Olivier Knox who covers Congress and politics for Agence France-Presse. He was an AFP White House correspondent from December 2000 to January 2009. Prior to chronicling President George W. Bush's tenure, Olivier covered Al Gore's White House campaign. From 1998-2000, he covered the US Congress, including President Clinton's impeachment and subsequent Senate trial. Ongoing - April is Poetry Quest Month
April is National Poetry Month and the Virtual Worlds Story Project will be celebrating by encouraging poets to write a poem a day. Participants pick up a daily note card which gives them ideas and suggests various SL locations as inspiration and background for the work. Poems are turned in on StoryBook Island and at the end of the month there will be a reading and prizes will be awarded. For more information go here. In Storybook Island. 2PM - Metropolis
Metropolis is a remake of a science fiction movie made in 1927 by Fritz Lang.
A camera system is built into the seats where the audience sits.
The seats fly around in Metropolis from scene to scene making the
audience part of the whole. Performances occur every Sunday and Friday at 2pm. The shows start when the sim fills to capacity and I am told this has been around

7PM - Prim Play Challenge - Sphere Edition

Noon - Sophrosyne's Saturday Salon with Truthseeker Young

In observance of the annual Days of Remembrance, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum is offering guided tours of the SL exhibit "Witnessing History: Kristallnacht, the November 1938 Pogroms." 5. Events sponsored or promoted by real world corporations are welcome, as long they serve and entertain the Second Life community, and/or foster
Resident-made content (live music, builds, scripting, fashion, games, etc.) Events that merely promote the company or organization's Second Life presence
are not generally appropriate; you may instead consider advertising your event or service on New World Notes.
6. Mature-rated events are permissible, but listing descriptions should be PG-13. Political and religious events are encouraged, though those of an
extreme or non-inclusive variety are rarely included.
7. Bonus consideration given to game-related or machinima events, and for events with "I've never seen that in SL before!" value.
