That spammer who commented first :)

There's such a simple charm about him.

Great site this breebirke.blogspot.com and I am really pleased to see you have what I am actually looking for here and this "Open Forum: Who What and Where Should Win the Resident Choice Awards?" post is exactly what I am interested in. I shall be pleased to become a regular visitor :)

Hamlet Au

Yep, there he is again. I get like a couple dozen of these every damn day.

Metacam Oh

Why does this whole thing seem like a big high school popularity contest, held by Linden no less?

Its a nice thought but I think it will do more harm than good to those left off or REALLY deserving of an award and not just having all their friends log in and vote.

Toxic Menges

Potentially a better thing to do would be a list of nominations, say 10 for each category, as voted in the first round by residents, and then the noms are put up for resis to visit and then vote on. Then deserving stuff gets seen by more - which is possibly much more important than winning?

Hamlet Au

Yeah I agree, Toxic. I'm not a fan of popularity contests per se, but it is a good way of making people more aware of great stuff. That's why when NWN does surveys like this, we make sure people get to see who's been nominated, not just who's won.

Jago

It would be nice to see some adult content make the resident choice award winners :P

Sioban McMahon

Of course, a wide open nomination process will be a bit chaotic, BUT it means that the Lindens can't be blamed for favoritism in creating short lists for the categories with the same sims/venues/avvies.

Ann Otoole

I think people that don't like the effort by LL to allow residents to recognize some people can choose to not participate and just let it go. There isn't anything on the list that involves me or, for the most part, involves anyone I know. But I'm not going to bitch about it. So what? Isn't like it involves a fat dollar prize or anything sheesh.

Toxic Menges

As an addendum to my post .. thats kinda what I mean @Siobahn collate the 10 most popular resident votes in each category.

Harrie

Got to say i think they are a great idea as finally all residents get an opportunity to have their say on what they like best etc. as a community. Ok some of the categories area bit odd to say the least and i too would like to see the votes being collated to give a list of nominees for final voting. But as this is the first year I am hopeful that they improve it for the next time!
