Yesterday, open source guru Richard Stallman dropped by New World Notes to offer his thoughts on the infringement notice sent by representatives of the Frank Herbert estate against Dune roleplayers in Second Life. (I confirmed the authenticity of the comment in an email to the Free Software Movement founder.) A noted opponent of "intellectual property" as a catch-all concept, he raises some very interesting points on all parties involved, so I updated the post with the full text of the infringement notice sent by the the Lindens. I hope a fruitful conversation continues. Check it all out here.
In my recent post on Second Life's recent growth spurt, Linden CEO Mark Kingdon (M. Linden in SL) discusses Premium subscriptions, the viewers' Search/Showcase function, and bots (" I've met some myself")-- read that and the rest of the conversation here.
