I recently stumbled into My Life in Second Life, the blog of Siri Woodget, and I'm glad I did: she's an excellent writer and smart observer of the metaverse experience. I especially admire how she relates projects in SL to her real life in New England, as with this look at the blasted heath of Empress and Hierophan, and this look at the work of AM Radio. A sample:
The stones at Empress and Hierophant are finely crafted, warm and lichen covered. I ran up to one menhir and imagined placing my palms on its surface. Rambling up a hill I got those butterflies in the tum when standing too close to a ledge. The waves below churned bright and blue and I felt compelled to walk and walk along the worn paths winding ‘round the island.
Much more here. Image courtesy Ms. Woodget's blog.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Siri in-world, and always look forward to reading her blog. Siri's vision and voice serve to both document and enhance the experience of being an active part of the metaverse. Thanks for this post!
