Chestnut Rau’s weekly round-up of upcoming SL events…
One of my very favorite art projects in SL is Brooklyn is Watching (BIW), which consists of a series of related spaces for artists, audiences, and participants. There is land in SL where artists are invited to leave work for one week and an alcove in the Jack the Pelican Presents Gallery in Brooklyn where the sim can be viewed. There are online discussion forums, a blog, and weekly podcasts.
Beginning July 7th BIW will celebrate the Best of Brooklyn is Watching Year 1 Festival. There will be artist talks, panel discussions and exhibitions of works that have been shown at BIW over the past year. Thirty of the best works were chosen via an open nomination process and they will be displayed through August 23rd. Visitors can vote for the winner of the "People's Choice Award." Please read more about the Best of Brooklyn is Watching Year 1 Festival at the BIW blog. Go on over to the sim, be amazed by the art and vote for your favorite! In Popcha. NOTE: I will be on vacation without reliable access to the internet for the next two weeks. Look forward to the return of Chestnut's Choices on July 30th.
Also after the break: Listen to new SL bluesman Mance Moonwall, Participate in SL's Iconic Snail Races, Catch Grace McDunnough's Musimmersion, Attend Art Openings for Monroe Snook, Feathers Boa, Layachi Ihnen and much much more...

detailed
sets designed to enhance and illustrate each song. Musimmersion is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable events in SL and is not

7PM - Shandon Loring with the Boyhood of Fionn
Join Shandon for this fabulous story (told in voice). He was a king, a seer and a poet. He was a lord with a manifold and great train. He was our magician, our knowledgeable one, our soothsayer. All that he did was sweet with him. And, however ye deem my testimony of Fionn excessive, and, although ye hold my praising overstrained, nevertheless, and by the King that is above me, he was three times better than all I say. In West of Ireland. [SLurl teleport at this link]

Event Submission Guidelines:
1. Events for the coming week must be received by Tuesday Noon SLT.
2. Include all the relevant info; day, time, and especially the SLURL to the event location.
3. Please send related graphics such as screen shots or photo of the event site, if available.
4. Events with artistic, cultural, scientific, political, creative, and/or educational value preferred.
5. Events sponsored or promoted by real world corporations are welcome,
as long they serve and entertain the Second Life community, and/or
foster
Resident-made content (live music, builds, scripting, fashion, games, etc.) Events that merely promote the company or organization's Second Life presence
are not generally appropriate; you may instead consider advertising your event or service on New World Notes.
6. Mature-rated events are permissible, but listing descriptions should
be PG-13. Political and religious events are encouraged, though those
of an
extreme or non-inclusive variety are rarely included.
7. Bonus consideration given to game-related or machinima events, and
for events with "I've never seen that in SL before!" value.
If you'd like an event to be considered, send the description and event information via email to Chestnut Rau at [email protected]. Or contact her in-world via IM.
