NEWTEEVEE: Starcraft Trailer Parody Promotes Warcraft Fan Machinima
If you're a fan of Starcraft, World of Warcraft, or machinima generally, you'll probably enjoy this post I just did for NewTeeVee; it's about how a team of brothers created an impressive shot-by-shot recreation of the Starcraft II trailer largely with elements from WoW. They made it to promote the latest installment of their "Illegal Danish" (don't ask) series of WoW machinima, which has generated at least 10 million views. It should inspire ideas in SL machinimators, too. One takeaway: to garner a large viral video audience, consider creating machinima based around a well-known element from popular culture that doesn't require knowledge of the world the movie was made in. It's why the SL version of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and a pseudo ad for an Apple Store in Second Life are among the most viewed SL machinimas on YouTube.
Wow thats a neat machinima. Your quite true to the point on the viral audience part as well.
