This coming Saturday, January July 18 at 6:00 AM SLT, in the much-loved SL village of Drowsy made by Japanese Residents, there will be an Obon celebration, a Buddhist tradition when, as Wikipedia explains, "the spirits of ancestors are supposed to revisit the household altars." According to Sanny Yoshikawa, my Japanese translator, Drowsy's official blog announces: "This Summer, we will hold a horror-themed festival. We will set up spooky street strolls during this festival... This festival will be continued for a month. Please come and enjoy!"
Next Monday, July 20 at 9:00am SLT, my dear friend Beth Noveck will make an appearance in Second Life. Why is this important? Because as Rik Riel explains, she's the author of Wiki Government and deputy Chief Technology Officer at the White House. More from me on that later; event details here.
Next Wednesday, July 22 at 11am Pacific, 6-7 PM UTC, OpenSimulator's OSGrid will celebrate its 2nd birthday with a presentation and "sneak peeks at upcoming features we're going to be launching on the grid." (OSGrid registration required.)
More events mentioned in this open form. Anyone else with last-minute events in the coming seven days to announce?
