Chestnut Rau’s weekly round-up of upcoming SL events…
M Linden has suggested that live music is SL's killer app and from what I see happening on the grid this week he may be right. Spanning the entire weekend you can enjoy Jamm for Genes which is a benefit supporting the Children's Medical Research Institute that will stage more than 35 separate shows. A complete schedule can be found here. The Originals is a project that highlights original live music in SL and you can enjoy their monthly day long festival on Sunday, which includes close to a dozen different performers.
I am very excited to see a new group performing in world called Fierce Tibetan Gods who will also be performing on Sunday. FTG is a well known RL band who's members have created avatars and will be performing for your enjoyment in Devils Moon (above). Finally, the much loved musical phenomenon that exists only in Second Life, Chouchou, will premier 4 new musical works on Saturday.
Complete calendars, show details and Slurls for these live music performances and many more can be found below.
Also after the break: Caravan Auction to Benefit Children, Meet Author John Geiger, 22 Artists Interpret the Major Arcana Cards of the Tarot and much much more....
(All event times in SLT, "Second Life Time"-- i.e., Pacific Standard)

Saturday 8/8
Ongoing beginning today - DynaFleur Returns to the Grid!
After an absence of nearly 8 months, the popular and beloved DynaFleur immersive art installation has returned to Second Life. Spanning an entire sim high above the Victorian-themed Caledon Kintyre, DynaFleur is the kind of experience that truly is possible only in a virtual space.
DynaFleur presents the almost abstract close-up floral photography of Douglas Story in a very unusual way. As you walk (and fall) through the installation, you are immersed in the densely layered sound design of Dizzy Banjo which is tailored to accompany the movements of the elements of the piece that surround you. Visitors become part of the work as the elements move and change in response to avatars. This magic is powered by complex scripts written by the talented Desdemona Enfield, based on the open-source Reflexive Architecture scripts made available by Keystone Bouchard and his group. DynaFleur is an absolute must see. In Caledon Kintyre. [SLurl teleport at this link]
9AM - NCI Class: Sculptie Basics
Learn what a "sculptie" is, how they are created, and how you can get started creating your very own sculptured prims (without losing your shirt on expensive 3D modeling software). Please download and install "Rokuro" prior to attending this class. NCI Classes - Welcoming All - Free to Everybody. In Hamnida. [SLurl teleport at this link]
2PM - Meet the Author: John Geiger
Adele Ward (Jilly Kidd in SL) will interview internationally bestselling author John Geiger about his latest book The Third Man Factor. The book is about the
mysterious extra presence that appears to help explorers and others
survive when faced by life threatening situations. It opens with the
experience of a 9/11 survivor who was the only one to get off his floor
alive because a 'guide' persuaded him to walk into the flames and
through fire to go downstairs. This show is filmed in front
of a live audience who can ask questions and is also streamed live online via TreetTV. In Cookie. [SLurl teleport at this link]
