GLANCE International Agency is a fashion public relations agency in SL. They are celebrating one year in business by hosting International Fashion Day, which runs from 12PM Saturday 9/5 to 12PM Sunday 9/6. This event brings together Second Life's most respected fashion designers for an impressive lineup of 24 runway shows in 24 hours. International Fashion Day is also sponsored by the RL Fashion powerhouse PRCouture, a respected online resource for fashion publicists, designers, students, and educators. This fantastic event will bridge the gap between virtual and material fashion.

3PM - 7PM Diva Day at Atlantis Ballroom
Atlantis Ballroom celebrates the female voice with a full afternoon of music by your favorite SL performers. At 3PM listen to Leighlee Trafalgar who is known for her jazz performances. Next up at 4PM is Tamra Sands who is a RL Broadway performer and singer/songwriter. In the 5PM hour you can enjoy the sultry voice of Stella Silvansky who covers songs by Jewel, Nora Jones, Sheryl Crow and others. Finally at 6PM catch the jazzy stylings of Eponine Dench. 4:30 - 7PM - Virtually Speaking and Music Island Collaboration
Music Island Concerts' Kate Miranda & Virtually Speaking's Jay Ackroyd present a blend of music and public affairs to lift your spirit and engage your mind. The program starts with four works for violin played by The astonishing Xi Yang (Young Zeid in SL) who is the founding music director and conductor of the Youth Symphony of Florida. Then at 6PM DailyKos bloggers CS Kendrick and clammyc give us a blogosphere perspective of US politics. This lecture focuses on viewer settings and how the home computer affects lag. Once you understand what causes lag you are in a better position to know what you can do to improve your SL experience. Friday 9/4
GIMP is a free image manipulation program similar to PhotoShop. This 10 week course is taught by Calla Cela & Ima Mechanique and is a hands on series that will teach you to work confidently in GIMP. The course includes metals, gems, alphas, seamless textures, making signs, using masks, animations, and introduction to clothing using Robin Sojourner's or Chip Midnight's UV maps. Each class includes notes with illustrations in PDF format for students who attend. This class is taught in voice. This course will be taught starting September 5th, Saturday at either 10AM or 6PM. The Mothlight Cinema is now showing two short films by Shiny Shabazz aka Martin Sercombe. 6PM and again at 8PM - LunaCast Live Electronica Show
Using a rack of computers, synthesizers and other sound and video manipulators the LunaCast house band spins a mix of original electronica and a VJ feed. They combine found sound, spoken word recordings and classic space jams with heavy synthesizer and percussion to create music the likes of which you have never heard before. From within SL participants watch the video stream projected on a large screen, chat, dance and goof off together. If you can't be in world, you can tune in to the stream. 4. Events with artistic, cultural, scientific, political, creative, and/or educational value preferred.
5. Events sponsored or promoted by real world corporations are welcome,
as long they serve and entertain the Second Life community, and/or
foster
Resident-made content (live music, builds, scripting, fashion, games, etc.) Events that merely promote the company or organization's Second Life presence
are not generally appropriate; you may instead consider advertising your event or service on New World Notes.
6. Mature-rated events are permissible, but listing descriptions should
be PG-13. Political and religious events are encouraged, though those
of an
extreme or non-inclusive variety are rarely included.
7. Bonus consideration given to game-related or machinima events, and
for events with "I've never seen that in SL before!" value.
