Lately I've been thinking a lot about the power and potential of augmented reality, but I'm hardly the only one. The iPhone in particular has transformed the technology from a laboratory plaything into a practical application. Thing is, I haven't seen many recent implementations using Second Life or OpenSim. In my opinion, so far the best use cases include this video platform created in 2008 by Georgia Tech students (shown above) and this architecture design demo by Keystone Bouchard, from 2007. Anything more recent we should be aware of? Bonus if SL data is exported to an external/portable device such as an iPhone.

If this video is from Open Sim, it's a good example of IP theft/copyright infringement.
As the palms shown in this video are copyright, owned and created by Lilith Heart a well know Secondlife plant creator
It's well know that Lilith Heart does not give permission for her plants and artwork to be taken/stolen and used in Open Sim projects

On the spectrum between virtual reality, which creates immersive, computer-generated environments, and the real world, augmented reality is closer to the real world. Augmented reality adds graphics, sounds, haptic feedback and smell to the natural world as it exists. Everyone from tourists, to soldiers, to someone looking for the closest tube stop can now benefit from the ability to place computer-generated graphics in their field of vision.
Augmented reality is changing the way we view the world; Stella Artois is the first major global drinks brand to launch an augmented reality Christmas e-card http://tiny.cc/StellaArtois3. Send it on to your friends and family for free.
