Exclusive to NWN, Willow Caldera covers SL's burgeoning live music scene
It's rare to hear the playful beats of Europop in SL, which might explain why UKD Project, fronted by the powerful but sweet voice of Rola Hykova, have attracted such a dedicated following. Nor is a UKD Project show a quiet event; the constant catchy rhythms, cheerful atmosphere and banter between songs combine to make you forget your worries for a while and give in to the urge to chair-dance.
This video was shot by Sound'r at a recent UKD Project show at Regenbogenland and features the original song "Crazy".
"We've been performing in SL for more than two years now," says Rola.
"We got tired of the same places, the same people in real life and I said, why don't we try in SL... many people, from different countries, many cultures. We love to involve people and have fun with them and let them help us to spread our music around the world."
Though UKD Project, who hail from Italy, at one time scheduled shows almost every night, recently they have been concentrating on recording a new album and limit their performances to once or twice a week - but with no limits on the band's energy and enjoyment.
"Our shows are... well, the most crazy thing you could think to find at an SL show!" says Rola. "We like to perform our originals and also some covers and the most important part is the people. We have created a real family, as I call it, because I like to be friends with all the people around me and involve them as much as we can. Good music and real involvement - that's the summary of our shows."
