It is winter in Second Life! In addition to snow and holiday
decorations that seem to have popped up overnight, the grid is brimming
with holiday events. From musical performances, to The Nutcracker and readings of A Christmas Carol you will find lots of fun things to do highlighted here on Chestnut's Choices over the coming few weeks.
Start your celebrating the joys of the season by listening to Tip Corbett in a concert of holiday improvisation today 12/3 at 6pm. Gregory Hall (in RL) holds degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara and the Curtis Institute of Music. He is an elected member of the American Composers Alliance, and has received commissions from the Music Teacher's National Association, the Arcady Chamber Orchestra, and has had his works performed and in the U.S. and abroad. 1pm - 4pm - Grand Reopening of Wheelies74
Wheelies, the first disability-themed virtual nightclub in SL, reopens its doors as Wheelies74 today. There is an expanded campus including, dance venue, walking green, activities center, and "Bond of Unity" art work. December 3rd has been designated by the United Nations as International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the reopening of the club is timed to coincide with this important day. 6pm - Time Magazine's Lev Grossman on Virtually Speaking
Virtually Speaking with Jimbo Hoyer is a regular public affairs program featuring in-depth conversations with opinion leaders, conducted in front of a live SL audience. This week's guest is Time Magazine journalist and novelist Lev Grossman. In 2002 he was hired by Time and became the magazine's book critic as well as one of its lead technology writers. 3pm - Kabuki Performance: The Heron Maiden
The Kabuki Actors of the Shinmachi District have prepared a stage performance based on the old Kabuki: Heron Maiden. In the early 1600s, the Tayuu were not only the most desired courtesans of the Japanese pleasure districts, but the most talented actresses of their time. Long before men took over the Kabuki stage, Tayuu and their apprentices ruled the theater. The Heron Maiden by Shinmachi has been called the District's best Kabuki Performance to date. The emotions, dance and winter scenery for the show add to the art and power of the piece. The Shinmachi District is a Hanamachi and Performance House for Geisha, Tayuu and Kabuki Actors. 3pm - Tamra Sands Live Holiday Concert

7. Bonus consideration given to game-related or machinima events, and
for events with "I've never seen that in SL before!" value.
