The video you're watching is John Mahon, an Irish commercial pilot based in London, reporting on his fascinating and harrowing experiences with a UK relief team he joined to help the earthquake-savaged country of Haiti. In Second Life, he's far better known as Ham Rambler, ebullient impresario and owner of Dublin Live, a popular and detailed recreation of Ireland's capital. It's as Ham that he address watchers of his video, recounting his experiences in the region, and making an eloquent and personal plea to Residents for help: "Find a way to show that in this new digital world we're living in which crosses boundaries and nations, languages and cultures, that we can now make a difference with what we do."
Read much more updates and see his from Haiti on Ham's Facebook page.
Update, 12:02pm: I just got a direct message from Ham, on how New World Notes readers can help. I thought it might be possible to send Linden Dollar donations to his account, which he could then convert into PayPal withdrawals to directly help Haitians. However, here's what Ham recommends: "I think the Red Cross route is the best option. We don't have a way of getting aid directly to the people in Port Au Prince, all we do is fly people in and out (rescue teams in - evacuees out). We are planning another flight today when we can get an arrival slot from the Air Force." Godspeed, Mr. Rambler!

Ham your'e an inspiration! Thinking of you fly well and fly safe hugs Paisly
