After going nearly a year without an update, Sparkle, the first app for accessing Second Life and OpenSim via the iPhone, recently added several new features, including one I think is killer: SLurl functionality. Now clicking a SLurl link on a web page loads your iPhone's web browser to display that location; clicking Teleport launches Sparkle, so when you log in, your avatar appears there. I gave it a quick test-run, and it works fine; I'm going to find this incredibly useful, because I often come across interesting SLurls reading about them on my iPhone. That aside, Sparkle still has less features than a more recent app, called Touch Life. One solution is to use both apps, Sparkle for the SLurl function, then Touch Life for once you get there.

I tweeted this story, and got a response from the folks at Touch Life. They say they've supported SLURLs since December, "and nobody noticed." FWIW. I haven't tested it out myself.
