The link to this machinima by Japanese Second Life Resident Porcorosso Ackmann has sat in my inbox for a couple months, probably because after I saw it one night at 3am, I woke the next morning thinking it had been part of my own fever dreams. But no, there apparently was a dance party for someone named DJ Yaz Rocket...
... which somehow devolved into a battle royale between King Kong and the Battleship Yamato, an X-Wing, a corvette convertible, an ornithopter, a miniature solar system, a purple elephant with karate skills, a dragon, a battle ostrich, and maybe a dozen more combatants I can't quite qualify. I guess. All to the score of Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain", of course, and beautifully photographed.
This was very, very cool! Sometimes, living out my everyday, admittedly mundane Second Life, I forget about what truly fantastic avatars there are in SL. This was a wonderful reminder. Thank you for sharing it.

Just a slight correction there Hamlet. That's the Battleship Yamato (Yamamoto was an Admiral in the IJN), or more accurately, a space vehicle from an old Japanese anime called "Space Battleship Yamato", which was then "exported" to the United States in the early 80's as "Starblazers", which then renamed the ship as the "Argo". Incidentally, a live-action version of this old anime will be shown sometime in 2011.

Night on Bald Mountain is indelibly linked to Fantasia for me. When did animation suddenly become something that could emerge so aparently effortlessly rather than the slow an laborious process that Walt would have recognised?

Now that the space-battleship geeks have been after you, Hamlet, allow the car-geeks to fire the next salvo: That's a Shelby Cobra, not a 'Vette.
