"Your Voice as Art" is a cool project from Aequitas, "a group of Second Life artists working on a project involving the voices of Second Lifers", as spokesperson Sowa Mai put it to me recently. Using the phonecall-to-Second Life technology of Avaline, they're collecting the real voices of Second Life Residents and embedding them into a digital forest of voices. Here's a video demo courtesy Sowa, of what they have now:
Due to concerns over anonymity, Sowa tells me they've had some difficulty collecting voices. "We are discovering more and more about the effects of anonymity in social media on collaboration and general communication," as Mai puts it. However, they're just seeking 9 seconds of real audio from Residents, and whatever you have to say can even be relayed by spoken in phone call by a friend. The info page of the YouTube demo has all the phone numbers you can call from around the word -- or just call Sowa Mai directly in-world. More info here.
