Here's an innovation in Second Life gaming I'd love to see implemented in other titles: Combat Cards, a strategy fighting game with a passionate following, posts match results to the game's Twitter account, with a SLurl teleport link so followers can quickly jump to challenge the victor.
"The big idea behind having a Combat Cards Twitter stream," co-creator Osprey Therian told me, "is to help people find opponents when they are in the mood for a game. [Co-creator Doc Boffin] scripted the arenas so they send out a Tweet as each match ends, and the tweets are available on Twitter, on the Combat Cards Facebook fan page, and on my Avatars United page... Of course there's a setting that can be changed if the arena-owner doesn't want company (it turns on/off the arena Tweeting capability)."
Very recently added in the latest version of Combat Cards (trailer above), "most players are probably not really aware that it's something they can take advantage of," Osprey adds. "As we all get more used to this kind of integration (and if we keep reminding our players), the value will become apparent." It already is to me. In fact, I think this is such a great idea, here's an open call to other SL developers: When you add similar Twitter functionality to your games and other content, please tell me, because I'm much more apt to write about it here.
Procyon Games has had this feature for years

I've just added an open source LSL Twitter OAuth Library to the script library in the Second Life wiki which will allow games like Combat Cards to post updates to players' Twitter streams without using the password anti-pattern: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Twitter_OAuth_Library
