Mariko Nightfire was a well-written and illustrated travelogue post on a recreation of Mont St. Michel in Second Life [SLURL], created by Moeka Kohime in such loving detail that the restaurants on the island have condiments, for god's sake. Then again, you're often likely to find such painstaking attention and care throughout the grid. As Mariko puts it: "Go to the map of Second Life, zoom out, and watch the islands and sims become as stars in a galaxy of multitudious stars. And know that each star in this galaxy is the creative work of some person or group of persons."

I visited this amazing site last year. Its one of the most artistic creations in all of SL. A work of wonder and artistry.

Having been to the RL Mont Saint Michel I can attest to the incredible detail of the SL build. There is also a secret door that will lead you inside the rock to a James Bond villian style lair complete with space ship. The door is behind a bar...

These SL versions of RL sites are sometimes amazing -- artists have replicated RL places with astonishing detail and care. When I visited SL Krakow last year (which, sadly, has now disappeared), tears came to my eyes as I walked through the old city square. (I know that sounds sappy, but it's true lol.) The façade of every building had been meticulously reconstructed -- just a stunning environment.
Thanks, Kumi ... I'll have to track down that bar! ;-)
