The Fantasy Faire 2010 is a gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers and performers to benefit SL Relay for Life and the fight against cancer. From Sunday 4/29 through 4/25, the Friends Fighting Cancer Relay for Life team brings you 9 sims full of fun. This week of special events, live music, exclusive items auctions, RFL ribbon hunts and fund raising brings together fantasy genres such as Fairy, Elven, Magic, Mermaid, Goth, Demon, Vamp, Neko, Tiny, Sci-Fi and more. You can shop for avatars, clothing, furnishings, gadgets, goodies and exclusive items from top SL Fantasy Creators including Fallen Gods, Rfyre, Silent Sparrow, Illusions, Psychotic Neko, Evie's Closet, Material Squirrel, Chaospire and others.
Check the calendar here for a list of the events planned for the week. The sims for the faire have not yet been released to the event organizers so SLurls are unavailable at this writing. Not to worry though, all you have to do is enter "Fantasy Faire" in the search box on your SL map and you will be able to find your way.

Noon - 12:30pm - Pop Art Lab Sim Opening & Machinima Event
To celebrate a brand new sim design and the announce winner of their $L100.000 machinima contest, Pop Art Lab is hosting a huge event. There will be speakers including Dusan Writer, Wiz Nordberg, Jeska Linden and others Musicians Redzone, Starflower Orbit, Skye Galaxy, MoShang Zhao and many others will perform. KelvinBlue Oh (aka Kevin Allen Navy) began playing guitar at the age of 12 when his mother bought him a guitar to keep him directed away from street life. 7am - Haiku Speed Build at Heron Shire
Special Edition, third Tuesday of each month, a haiku is chosen for the theme of the speed build, and the haiku will be revealed right before the contest begins. Each contestant will have 50 minutes to create a sculpture that best exemplifies the haiku within a 50 prim limit. Keiko Takamura and her Band the SheBangs are heading into the recording studio to create their first album and studio time is expensive. 8:30pm - Cypress Rosewood & Skye Galaxy Live at Kolor Fall's New Installation
Musicians Cypress Rosewood and Skye Galaxy will perform at Kolor Falls newest installation this evening in a unique performance that melds amazing music with immersive 3d art. Cypress and Skye have an attraction to each other's music which can be observed through musical mood, melody, and chord progressions. Cypress recently observed that Kolor Fall's experiments with the Quantum Entanglement theory in Second Life was a spot on description of the musical relationship between his performances with Skye. 11am - Space Elevators, Orbital Energy and Exponential Growth
We need non-fossil fuel sources of energy and most alternatives require large investments so some argue these technologies don't fully scale. One way to generate energy does scale -- orbtal solar. The problem is launch costs - implementing even a single orbital solar facility is prohibitively expensive. Unless - we'd find a way to construct skyhooks or "space elevators". 2pm - Virtual Worlds Researchers Discussion Group
The Virtual Worlds Research Discussion Group meets in SL to present and discuss research about virtual worlds. It is organized by Greg Wadley (Uni of Melbourne), Deb McCormick (Monash Uni) and, Sabine Lawless-Reljic (San Diego State). Usually the groups follows a seminar format: research presentation followed by audience discussion. The group welcomes all researchers and others interested in discussing virtual worlds. Maajid Nawaz is Director of the Quilliam Foundation in London. For 14 years he was involved in the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir in the UK, Denmark and Pakistan. He served four years in an Egyptian prison, where he gradually changed his views until he renounced Islamist Ideology for traditional Islam and inclusive politics.
