April is Autism Awareness Month. To help promote awareness the Autism Society of America in SL (ASA) is holding "Sail for Hope" on Saturday 4/24 beginning at 1pm. The sail is open to boats of all kinds and will start and end at Triumphal Yacht Club. It will be an easy cruise around the Nautilus continent and back to Triumphal. After the sail, everyone will be treated to a great line up of fabulous entertainers including OneSummer Oh, Grace McDunnough, Ivan Boomhauer, and Ichie Kamachi. Even if you are not the nautical type, you are welcome to view the lovely sight of the parade of sail and of course everyone is encouraged to attend the live music performances.
All donations from the event will go to Autism Society of America, leading US grassroots autism organization. The organization works to increase public awareness about the day-to-day issues faced by people on the spectrum, advocates for services, and provides the latest information regarding treatment, education, and research. 7pm - Irish Goth Tales with Shandon Loring
Gothic sensibility is a haunted one. Protagonists are haunted by memories, by ghosts and supernatural beings, by the unfamiliar made familiar and the familiar made unfamiliar, and by their own selves. Reality is presented as an arbitrary interpretation of experience and phenomena, making the crises of the Gothic protagonist more than just dark fairy tales, lamentations or nightmares from which escape is possible. Come experience a different 'reality' in tales from such greats as H.P. Lovecraft and the Irish Gothic master Sheridan Le Fanu. But don't be scared, it's only real. Stories in voice. In West of Ireland. [SLurl teleport at this link]
