Billed as the short trailer to a larger project called "Cargo", Arbit Delacroix's intriguing Second Life machinima features a man, a woman, and lots of bots looking Heavy Metal sexy in zero-G. Love the fluid camerawork, incredible set and avatars, and the way all that high-tech hardware is nicely counterpointed with a twangy, ambient-Western track by Hammock:
Can't wait to see the whole thing!
Update, 11:20PM: Mr. Delacroix writes in give us more details: "The story is about a guy who runs a quasi-legal storage outpost on the outskirts of the M87 galaxy. He houses somewhat questionable cargo for high returns but this puts him in danger's way occasionally. Anyway, without giving too much away... through a series of events, he himself becomes the cargo, and the story centers around how he is rescued by what remains of his crew. Love, loss, redemption.. the usual stuff!" More after the break:
"I shot [it] on the set that I'm building on my land. When I say building, though, I'm not trying to take credit for the content creation. I just mean putting it all together... The structure itself is made from a modular system of 13 pieces (7 x 7 x 7 meter cubes) that easily fit together. I can't begin to even say how nice they are and each one is really low prim sculpts as well...
"I'll be releasing another trailer down the road (maybe in a few weeks) that will have voice work and hopefully it will set up the story in a clearer fashion. I wanted to leave this one a bit cryptic to keep people guessing though... or at least that was the hope!"
Very nice. Sadly I expect script limits are going to eliminate the most compelling visual effects from Second Life.

Beautiful trailer. SL machinima really is maturing nicely isn't it?
