Machinima makers, take note: YouTube recently announced a partnership with a music licensing site called Friendly Music, which offers licenses to thousands of songs for use in non-commercial YouTube videos for just $1.99. Here's how it works:
One possible downside: None of Friendly Music's library are from the major record labels. But then, that's also a definite upside: Indie musicians get exposure (and enough money for a cup of coffee), and you get cool tracks for your videos that won't get muted or yanked off YouTube by over-zealous label lawyers.
Or you can use audio swap free. Or any of the CC resources and other resources that are free such as Moby Gratis.
Nice to know of more.

Magnatunes is also great - they have a very wide selection, if you buy the CD/download the album, then you are granted a licence to use for non profit work. I ended up buying a lifetime membership for something like 295usd - which gives me access to over 10k tracks. This is a great rescource you have pointed to though, thanks for that!

Just so you know, you can use music from Magnatune.com for free for YouTube non-commercial if you have a membership. Great source of unusual music.

Awesome! It makes sense that indie machinima artists would support indie music artists and vice versa. This is way more exciting than free audio swap or bland stock music.
