The Second Life Community Convention, which this year takes place in Boston, is still taking applications for Track Leaders, who get a comp pass to SLCC -- here's the details, with an application deadline of June 16 (i.e. tomorrow!)
Despite (or perhaps because) of the savage Linden Lab layoff news last week, SLCC coordinator Fleep Tuque tells me sign-ups are going strong. "[E]ven after the [Linden layoff] announcement still getting about the same number of sales per day so," Fleep told me yesterday. They've already received more than 100 sign-ups, which is a fourth of their target number. "[W]e've only been open for two weeks... Based on past year's experience, most people procrastinate, so we're kinda surprised that many have sold already." I'm hoping to get a discount for New World Notes readers, so if you're interested in attending SLCC, stand by for a code hopefully soon. May this SLCC be a time for renewed optimism, rather than a "What now?" wake.
Fleep and AJ Brooks held forth about SLCC 2010 last week at our VWER meeting. The transcript is at:

I hope that the atendants get some more information from M regarding the future decisions that will impact on residents life

Is Kingdon planning public appearances after all this?

No word from Fleep how many Lindens will appear. After all, LL does not sponsor SLCC, even though their employees often attend.

That is incorrect; Linden Lab has been the lead sponsor every year since the first. There's also typically been a Linden liaison on the board, which I sat on for the first three conventions (was Jeska at the time).
