Iris Ophelia covers selected top selling women's fashion in Blue Mars over on the blog I'm helping develop. That black leather jacket above is from Port Town, a beautifully decayed City.

Oh look! Tight leather women's wear and shiny stilettos! How innovative.
Well, I suppose it will be some consolation that, should we all find ourselves fleeing to Blue Mars, we can be sure we'll still find SL-vintage tartwear there.

I made the shoes on the left, and I know the person who did the boots on the right. In real life I can't wear high heels all day, in my fantasy life I can. So guess what? I made some for myself first, and then other people wanted them. The boot designer was asked by players to make high heels also, so they did.
If you don't like "tartwear", then don't buy it, but don't look down on others because our fantasy life is different than yours, please. And at least Blue Mars will have high quality tartwear (and other clothes, and furniture, etc) because the underlying graphics engine allows it.

Actually, Danielle, my comment was directed much less at the makers or even wearers of these items than at the seeming inevitability that they would be front and centre in a fashion feature on Blue Mars.
I'm sure that the boots and heels are very well made. And there is no question that they look lovely in these pics.
But if the best that Blue Mars has to offer is shinier, glossier versions of the predominant SL "look," then I can only say that it's a terrible waste of the potential offered by the newer platform.
Alternately, if Blue Mars *does* have more to offer, then my question would be: why not feature THAT here, and in the Blue Mars blog?
There are some wonderful clothes and designs to be had in SL; I'm sure that this will be true of Blue Mars as well, if it is not already. But the reality is that SL fashion is dominated by largely uninspiring, tacky, and over-sexualized "tartwear," and this brief feature leaves the impression that the same is going to be true of Blue Mars.
Don't YOU think it would be nice to see more fashion features that focus upon newer, more interesting looks, and expand beyond that narrow range?

Once meshes are out (and the normal maps that will follow soon after) SL can have clothing like this too.

@Scylla.
It's shoes. People like pretty shoes. Seriously, get over it. And please stop with the 8 paragraph replies MY GOD WOMAN! lol

@Nine
Of course it's shoes. If we were talking geopolitics, you'd be right: this is trivial. But in the context of a fashion feature, "shoes" are an important subject, no? And specifically, *which* shoes are featured, and which are not.
And when have you ever known me NOT to talk in paragraphs?

@Scylla..
You make a good point and I'm glad you realized I was kidding about the paragraph thing. :D
