Here's the ten semifinalists for folk, bluegrass, country, and blues performers, chosen by NWN's panel from a massive reader open forum. Please choose your three personal favorites -- but before you do, be sure to check out any performer you aren't familiar with, in the YouTube videos I've embedded after the break.
Here's the list:
VOTING ENDS AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER! The most favored performers will be profiled in later New World Notes posts.
After the break, a sample of each performer. Whoever you vote for, do give a listen to some of the best artists in their respective genre performing in Second Life:
Mel Cheeky:
Tallguy Kidd:
Avatar Quinzet:
Von Johin:
Arman Finesmith:
Kelvinblue Oh:
JueL Resistance:
Cosmic Haystack:
Charles Bristol:
Komuso Tokugawa:
Michael Jackson still isn't on the list. :(
This is a travesty considering he just bought himself an entire virtual planet.

Hi,
I'd respectfully request to be removed from this poll/survey/swimsuit competition. As a rule I have never partaken in any SL/RL Music "popularity" contest, and will continue to do so.
The only metric of musical success I need is direct fan feedback - however long tailish small niche that may be. I am quite comfortable doing what I do, how I do it, and when I do it.
Michael Jackson can have my "nomination".
ty, and goodnight (in my best elvish voice).

Well, Happy to see Von getting some respect... but who made up this list???? Wheres the Queen bee ( Noma Falta) and how can you not have Blu4u Nowicka on the list????
Komu's a tradition and i'm glad to see he isn't doing the swimsuit competition...
I retract my Vote for Komu and re-cast it for Noma Falta.... Wheres the write in crowd when you need to make a statement...

I, personally, would have been very interested in a write-in section. I think all surveys like this should have them. SL is so vast that not one avie knows everyone out there. Everyone's perspectives of SL is a sum of their experiences. I can think of MANY performers in this genre that were left off the list.
I often "show hop" by taking an hour and going down the events list. Staying at each show for about 2 songs gives me an idea of the performer. However, there are so many SL artists now that I rarely complete the list for the hour.
We have lots of great talent out there.

PS I realized I missed the orginal post from August. However, I have watched contests like this in-world and on blogs. It is a popularity contest of how many fans hit the submit button or vote on a board.
I'm guessing that most SL artists (at least the ones I know) would rather spend time on music than "rallying the troups."

Yeah I would be writing in Noma and Tone Uriza, if I could.
