Exclusive to NWN, Iris Ophelia's ongoing showcase of all things stylish in SL
I know there's been a bit of a delay in this series of SL-meets-Mad Men articles, so I figured I'd make up up to my loyal readers with this particularly tantalizing bonus homage to Christina Hendricks, a.k.a. Joan Harris (née Holloway). Hendricks' photoshoots in snugly structured girdles and corsets have become nearly as impressed upon pop culture today as the show that put the spotlight on her in the first place, and provided me with excuses as ample as Mrs. Harris' bosom for a slightly cheekier shoot with the avatar I created in August.
I changed Joan's hairstyle to something a little more lustrous, the Mia style by Queue Marlowe of Analog Dog [SLurl], before slipping her into Roslin Petion and CJ Carnot's The Tease lingerie set from 5th and Oxford [SLurl], and a pair of Pin Up XtremeHeel pumps from N-Core [SLurl]. Unfortunately the sheen of the stockings meant that it was a little tricky to match the prim foot 100%, so if you want to recreate the look without the hassle, try the new platform pumps from Gospel Voom of Gos instead.
Could I ever do just one sexy outfit for my favourite redheaded icon? of course not! Keep reading for the "sugar" to this outfit's "spice"!
This clearly isn't modeled after a real look worn by Christina Hendricks on Mad Men or otherwise, but it's my favourite corset set in Second Life to date, and I just could not pass up the opportunity to show it off. Munchflower Zaius of Nomine [SLurl] released this truly gorgeous confection of a corset, named Nephilim, a few months ago, complete with stockings, in an array of super sweet pastel colours. I swear when I first found it in her shop my heart nearly skipped a beat, I've never loved any other piece of lingerie more. I set the stage somewhat dramatically with FrankLee Anatra's Vintage Dressing Screen from { what next } [SLurl], and finished Joan's unconventional look with the equally inaccurate but adorable Kate bow-strap shoes from *G Field* [SLurl].
If you're wondering how I happened to get those little pouty faces out of dear Joan (or my own avatar below) check out my article on using lip sync for photography in Second Life. And don't worry, I've got more iconic looks in the works, coming soon! Want more metaverse Mad Men in the meantime? Here's more:

Even if they had the sexy look, their Disney rules would stop Blue Mars from pulling this sort of hot off.

To be fair Adric, I have far skimpier lingerie than this in my Blue Mars inventory right now, so I'm sure fabulous corsetry would be welcome too. :)

Too bad it's only allowed to lead to a good conversation.
