Hmm...I think I'll wait and see...So far I'm rather happy with Emergence.

BTW...[shameless self promotion]...I HAVE NOT BLOGGED ON THE DEBACLE THAT WAS EMERALD.

If the king is dead... long live the king.

"former Emerald developer Jessica Lyon has launched a new viewer from the software's ashes, appropriately called Phoenix."

Completely sick, and no it won't work. This group has no understanding whatsoever of the requirements. Breaking off and creating "Ones Own" sounds so... ughm, proprietary.

Ignatius Onomatopoeia

Know, O blingtards, that between the years when the market crushed the Sims Online, and the years of the rise of the Sons and Daughters of actual desktop VR, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining sims lay spread across the grid like blue mantles beneath the stars - Svarga, Jessie, Midian City, Luskwood, Zindra with its willing "women" and towers of perv-haunted mystery, Ravenglass of The Chattering and Thin-Skinned Overlord, HippiePay redolent of surveys and dancing bots, Caledon with its chivalry, Woodbury with its tricksters of great annoyance, noisy Ahern that bordered on the noisier lands of Morris, Liquid Designs with its Bloodlines-guarded tombs.

But the proudest kingdom of the world was the land of Linden, reigning supreme in the dreaming servers. Hither came Philip of the multi-colored cod piece, spiky-haired, Fu-Manchu-faced, ban-hammer in hand, a coder, a CEO, a deal-maker, with gigantic visions and gigantic challenges, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Metaverse under his prim-clad feet.

TPVD gives no guarantee on anything. They can still put malicious code in it anyway. After all Emerald WAS ON THE TPV list when it was doing the DDoS attacks.... REMEMBER?

Also lets not forget that LordGregGreg the only white hat coder that left Emerald early on before EmeraldGate blew up, has created his own viewer alled Emergence viewer. http://lordgreggreg.wordpress.com/

"Our Lead Developers are: Dimentox Travanti, LordGregGreg Back, Techwolf Lupindo, Tonya Souther."

omg, I'm dying laughing here. Dimentox Travanti? ARE YOU SERIOUS?

You know, I'm just going to shut-up & let those who know how to poke around do what they do best.

Yet another viewer I won't dare touch.

You my be very right on not reporting on Emerald again Hamlet, but I suspect you'll be doing quite a few on Phoenix :x

Lalo Telling

@Free & @Iggy: Awesomesauce, both of ya.

Oh, excuse me; I was having a flashback to my days sitting before the fire in the mead-hall (grin). Brilliant!

and yet you fail to see that LGG is on board.Emergence was a stop gap to give people a an emerald clone with no further development but bug fixes. As to "you cannot take a viwer and make something new" it's called forking, and is the nature of open source.
I'm being carefull too but they have to fulfill all the confitions to be on the TPv which Emerald failed to meet before getting canned.
Looking at the blog post they seem to be trying to be as transparent as possible

Little Lost Linden

I think another follow-up post is needed on Emerald.

We need to know when the ban is going to take place. Many were expecting it to be Friday, however, the ban never occurred. Now people are saying Wednesday but we would like an official announcement from Linden Lab.

Bunjie

"Fractured Cresci" suffering a torrent of abuse meant to be directed at Fractured Crystal http://bit.ly/byirDy

IntLibber Brautigan

So, now that every one of Woodbury's allegations about the nefarious criminal activities of the Emerald crew (claims that you all denied for months) have been proven true and LL has banned the true miscreants, hows about returning Woodbury's sims or refunding their money???? It's called JUSTICE.
