Philip Linden may be able to slay the foul Emerald beast, but can he take down a werewolf with righteous high kicks? I think not. Presenting Toxic Menges' sassy, beautifully realized update to "Little Red Riding Hood". Possibly not worksafe, as it contains some salty action movie dialog and big bad wolf abuse:
I especially love how Toxic does the title credits as in-world objects. And while it looks complicated, the Matrix slow-mo kung fu shot, she tells me, was actually "[T]he easiest thing to do in the whole vid -- just use the cam controls in the viewer, position your cam in the middle of both avis, and spin! Add two static poses, then add a scatter effect in After Effects to get the transition." That, plus the shots of the moon, she tells me, were the only post-processing done for this machinima. That, and Grandma: "Fiona Haworth played both Mother and Grandma," Ms. Menges explains, "so I had to add her in [in post]."
Just as an addendum to this piece (thanks for the it Hamlet btw) Openfilm.com, a site for indie filmmakers has chosen Little Red Riding Hood as one of their Editor's picks, quite an achievement if you take a look at some of the other films in that category - http://www.openfilm.com/. Robert Duvall and James Caan are on the advisory committee for openfilm.com, so I am especially proud that Second Life and machinima is being showcased. 3200 views and counting on that site since it was made a pick less than a day ago.

Way to go, Toxic!
When I was in college, I wrote a short story in which Red opens a can of whoop-ass on the wolf. And that was inspired in part by a music segment on the 70's cartoon show "Groovy Ghoulies"... let's see if I remember...
"I've got cake and some cookies/
But that's for Granny's party/
I've also got a great big book/
On how to use KARATE!"
It made a lasting impression :)
