My Avatar and Me, a Comically Sexy New Second Life-Centric Feature Coming Soon to EU Film Festivals (NSFW)

My Avatar and Me is a new feature film from Danish directors/producers Bente Milton and Mikkel Stolt, and as the title suggests, it's a quasi-documentary of Mikkel's misadventures in real and Second Life. Here's a ribald, self-contained clip, which is well-produced and a fairly hilarious look at the awkwardness of Second Life sex (reminds me of Nighflower's post on SLex yesterday), so it's decidedly not very safe for work viewing. Which is why I'm posting this on Friday afternoon:

You can follow updates on the Facebook fan page. The movie actually debuted last March and aired on German, French and Swiss TV, but is still making the festival rounds in Europe: "In early November it will be shown at 'Nordic Film Days' in Lubeck, Germany," Mikkel tells me, "and in late November it has been invited to be shown at Europe’s biggest and most prominent festival, IDFA... The Danish premiere will ironically enough be the latest, since it is selected to be part of the DOX:BIO series, where six new documentaries a year are shown in 40 theaters simultaneously, and in our case also in SL." And yes, the distributor is talking with North American distributors, too, so maybe it'll show up there as well. More updates on the Second Life-based screening when and if I get them.

Happy times! I worked on the film with Mikkel and Bente (and Helena) and just wanted to point ou that more info can be found on the movie's website than on the fb page.

US premiere of this film is tonight at Cleveland Int. Film Festival. It seems that tickets are still available at the box office. The festival calls it a film "...truly unlike any film you’ve ever seen". :)

I saw this film at the US premier and found it highly engaging, and wondrous to watch my familiar SL life (in many aspects) unfolding before me on-screen. Highly recommended!
