Ray Ozzie, a widely admired visionary programmer, is unexpectedly leaving his position as Microsoft's Chief Software Architect, with no word given of his future plans. At Microsoft, Ozzie was a passionate advocate of cloud computing, was a driving force behind the company's successful Xbox 360 gaming/interactive entertainment platform. And of possible interest to New World Notes readers, he was an early investor of Linden Lab. "Mr. Ozzie will continue to work at Microsoft for a while," the New York Times reports, "focusing on guiding its entertainment strategy. This could include rounding out consumer cloud services tied to the PC, the Xbox 360 game console and other devices." With that background and those projects on his plate, it'll be very interesting to see what his next project will be. Photo of Ozzie by Begley.

so, 2 weeks ago we heard rumour of LL being sold to MS. Now the Head of the XBOX and consumer entertain division steps down from MS and has no announced plans on the same day that Philip steps down (again) at LL?
Curiouser and Curiouser. I can't wait to see where this rabbit hole leads.
