Chestnut Rau's Weekly Roundup of Upcoming Events...
Earlier this year Homeless Link, the national network of English charities, launched a virtual Garden for Change in SL. This space is a virtual tribute to the RL Places of Change Garden which was created by more than 500 volunteers from 40 homeless agencies from across England. The garden won a silver medal at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Prestigious Chelsea Flower Show.
Robert Davidson, the official photographer for the Places of Change Garden and former photographer for the Moody Blues and The Move, became homeless at the age of 65. He was subsequently supported by a variety of homelessness services in London who helped him to rediscover his love of photography. Robert’s photographs are exhibited at the Garden for Change in Second Life. On Monday 11/22 at 10:15am he will be in SL in avatar form and will be interviewed by Jenny Valerian (Jenny Edwards, Chief Executive of Homeless Link) Following the interview, the audience will be treated to a tour of the lovely SL Garden for Change.
This event is part of a series of talks, events, performances and workshops that will be held at the Garden for Change where people from different countries can meet and share solutions to homelessness. Each event will involve homeless people who were involved in the creation of the original garden or other digital media projects. In Garden for Change. [SLurl teleport at this link]

The topic of our discussion on this date will be "What is the Meaning of Sex?" We all know that a primary reason is procreation, but let's get beyond that. Since it is so pleasurable, it is not hard to see why it is engaged in so frequently. But what is its deeper meaning? How does it influence our daily lives? Come and share your thoughts and insights. The session will be in voice, but you will be welcome to post your comments by typing as long as you are able to hear others. In Magoja. [SLurl teleport at this link]

3pm - NCI Class: Scripting Physical Objects
In SL you don't need to be a rocket scientist to build a rocket. But, you do need to know about physical objects and how to script them. This class starts with the basics of physical objects - what they are, how to manipulate them etc. Then, we will dive into scripting physical objects. Focus of this class will be the scripting skills and concepts rather than a specific scripted object. By the end of the class you will be full of ideas for building rockets, scripted weapons, bouncing beach balls, or other types of scripted physical objects. NCI Classes - Welcoming All - FREE to Everybody! In Hamnida. [SLurl teleport at this link]

3:30pm - Thinker's Discussion: Put off by the Mask?
Last month Hamlet wrote about how avatars are like full-body costumes that totally obscure the person beneath and suggested that this prevents wide adoption of SL. The comments on this post got quite heated. Do you think linking our real lives with our virtual lives is necessary for widespread adoption of SL? Come and discuss with Extropia. All welcome. In Pennyroyal. [SLurl teleport at this link]
6pm - Soar at The Whiskey
AKA "The Bad Boys of Ballad", Charles Somerset, Bright Oh & Experiment Rhode are RL musicians and friends from Australia who met many moons ago. 3. Please send related graphics such as screen shots or photo of the event site, if available.
4. Events with artistic, cultural, scientific, political, creative, and/or educational value preferred.
