The Meet Up HUD by Lucas Gealach is a pretty nifty-looking heads-up display aimed, Lucas tells me, at solving the "Now what?" problem for Second Life users, especially those just starting out. Once you install it, you select the SL activities you're interested in doing, and the HUD displays other MU users also interested in that kind of activity and others. Could be a good way to meet new Residents, which is why Lucas has a L$10,000 "Tales of Meeting Up" Contest. Disclosure: Since talking with Lucas, the HUD's become an occasional advertiser on NWN, but I do think it or a technology like it is a great idea for increasing user engagement in SL.
