Been awhile since we had an open forum on New World Notes, so here's one now: What's on your mind and on your activity list in the metaverse, be it Second Life, OpenSim, Blue Mars, and beyond?

Life is good over at Jokaydia Grid. My sim, Nevermore, will house several interactive builds themed to E.A. Poe's life and works. We'll plan on an improv session with students and actor/volunteers in the 2011-2012 academic year.

I've been pottering around in SL these days going to talks and discussion groups. On Saturday mornings, MICA hosts talks on astronomy and other sciences that are interesting and accessible to the public. I've also been learning a bit about Zen and meditation at the Kannonji Zen Retreat, where they have meditation sessions throughout the day and talks by actual Zen priests at various points in the week. In between, I've been wandering around, looking at what people have been making. This year has marked a kind of return for me to SL after a bit of an hiatus, and I am amazed at what really talented artists there are in SL now. I used to think I could build as well as anyone: now I know better.

Still exploring and looking for sims as cool as Poetik Velvets was. BTW - does anybody know the story behind why that closed?

I barely escaped a tiger now living upstairs the Kronbelt Art Gallery. After that trauma I relaxed with a Hookah pipe and played with some toys. Strange?

I'm mostly in InWorldz these days. No upload fees makes it an ideal environment to polish my modeling and texturing skills.

I've been hosting the monthly meetings of Art and Science Collaborations, Inc. (ASCI) in Quat Gallery on the last Sunday of each month. Transcripts here: http://www.solidstatelight.com/ASCI/transcripts.htm
I was one of the winners of the Tech Virtual Museum's "Water Projects" for the Singapore Science Center: http://slurl.com/secondlife/The%20Tech%202/94/111/33/
Spent some of the prize money buying more land for my gallery in Quat: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Quat/132/110/21/
Also bought a hot tub and some other cool animated fixtures, such as a bidet, to renovate my bathroom in FurnationNation Fusion, and now I'm collecting a few more pieces for my sculpture garden there: http://slurl.com/secondlife/FurNation%20Fusion/116/18/24/
