Did you know cinema legend David Lynch is now making catchy techno dance music too? Why yes he is. Did you know he's judging a contest for fan-made videos of his latest track? Why yes he is. (Did you know I once spoke to Lynch on the phone? Why yes I did, see below.) Ian Pahute rose to the challenge, and created an entry to the contest with Second Life machinima, featuring the SL sims Chakryn, INSILICO, Organica, Zombies and kissing. Watch after the break:
Nice juxtaposition of fire and strangeness with the sentimental, I have to think Lynch would like it. You can help Ian vote this entry into the semi-finals of the contest by voting on it today (the deadline.) Just go here and click the "Vote" button below right of the video, then and follow the onscreen instructions.
Update, 3:25PM: Chantal Harvey also entered a Second Life machinima in the Lynch contest, vote on it here, watch her very different take on the same song below:
Oh yeah, my story of talking with Lynch:
The first real article I wrote was a profile of David Lynch, in college. The interview took forever to set up. He was dating Isabella Rosselini at the time, and when she called from Paris while we were talking, David Lynch told his assistant, "Holy smokes, tell Isabella I'm on the horn with James here!" I'm not even kidding, that's literally what he said.
Excellent work in both vides.
Yep. SL's Killer App: Machinima.
If only LL doesn't kill its Killer App.

Please stop the videos from playing (with associated audio) automatically. It's extremely irritating. and I'd hate to have to wait several days until they have scrolled off before I came back.

Yeah good point, I'll put them below the break. Not sure how to disable the MySpace-play.

Thanks. (Come to think of it, Charles Ives would like it as it is... :))
